What can I do if the domain name I want is already taken?

If the domain you want has already been registered by someone else, you may still have an opportunity to get the domain through a secondary market for “used” domain names. You have a few options:

1. Find out if the domain is for sale. At domain name marketplaces such as
sedo.us, you can search through over a million domain names listed for sale by their
owners to find out if the one you’re looking for might be available. You might also
try typing in the domain name itself to see if it resolves to a “for sale” page.

2. Use a domain broker to acquire the domain name. Best brokers can assist you
with the entire process, from tracking down the domain’s owner to securely
transferring the domain once the sale has been completed. One such broker service is
provided at sedo.us.

3. Contact the owner directly. If you are experienced in negotiating the
acquisition of domain names, you can always contact the owner of the domain name
directly. The owner’s contact information can usually be found by doing a search
through a WHOIS database.
